Brutes & Lovers

Toss me asunder again, but I still adore
You keep cascading onto my shores
While I’ve been searching for something to devour
My Aphrodite fair, at least for the hour
If you don’t turn your back, back
We’ll reenact the torrid affair that I’ve abstracted

Brutes and lovers, contrary rules
Under covers we all sing the same tunes
If I had my druthers I’d serenade you
But to dream of you is subconsciously cruel
Still I’d rather take the pain and stay your fool…
Said I’d rather take the pain and stay your fool

A muse in squalor yet still so refined
In Technicolor you’d look divine
I guess I’ll tolerate you in black and white
A stunning specter waiting to ignite
If I could take it back, back
I’d take it back, back
And counteract all the facts shared
Under the mat again

Brutes and lovers, contrary rules
Under covers we all sing the same tunes
If I had my druthers I’d serenade you
But to dream of you is subconsciously cruel
Still I’d rather take the pain and stay your fool…
Said I’d rather take the pain and stay your fool
